Something Scarlet is a direct descendant of The Frost Bottom Boys.
The FBB began as an "olde timey" band, mostly acoustic stuff, but along the way we started plugging in our instruments and turning up the volume.
We began noticing that our material was also venturing further from the Americana realm, and we enjoyed that new path.
We also noticed that there were times when folks would come to a gig thinking they'd get a straight up bluegrass band only to find a big bushel basket of
rock n roll instead. We kinda felt like we weren't being 100% honest to people, having a rock band with such a bluegrassy name. So we came up with a new name
for the rock n roll side of us.
The FBB is still here, but now when you go see us perform under that banner you'll find us being very acoustic again and
doing the kind of material you'd more expect from the name. But when we wanna rock, we use this monicker.
